What very few women know: The letter of the bra size does not indicate the size of the cup! Why 70E, 75D, 80C, and 85B have the same cup sizes and only the underbust bands change, we reveal to you:

One might actually assume that cups are made so that the respective letter indicates the size of the cup and that these become larger ascending from A. But that is not the case. If you compare a bra in 75B and 100B, you will find that the cups do not have the same size. But why is that?

The reason for this is that the cup size and the underbust band are in a "relational relationship" with each other. This means that the letter only denotes a specific cup volume when it is in conjunction with a specific underbust width. In this context, people also speak of the so-called "cross sizes." In cross sizes, the cup size remains the same while the underbust width changes. For example, in a bra in 75B, the cup is the same size as in a bra in 70C or 80A, only the underbust width changes. So if you choose a narrower underbust width, you must also select a higher cup letter to ensure that the cup size does not change.

Therefore, you can remember as a rule of thumb:

• one underbust width smaller - choose one cup larger
• one underbust width larger - choose one cup smaller
